Changes
-Added basic character mods. (add your own characters)
-Example mod character. (Not meant to be a fleshed out enemy)

Notes
You can now add basic characters by creating an image for each action. (For now they must be male, or futa. Ability to have female characters will be added later)
These images will automatically be detected based on the name of the file, and the character will appear in the game like other enemies. You can also spawn an added enemy by pressing space.

For more specific directions, check the help file included in the "modding resources" folder, which also contains template images for creating actions. The actions must be created with the template size, and the sprites must be aligned to it.

In the future, there will be more control over added enemies. However the goal of this update is to make the minimum for modding as low as possible. I will also add other conveniences in the future to make it a bit easier. It will also be possible to add more poses to each type (I may do this in a quick update next weekend, just because it wont take long.)

There will be no big update next weekend, since I spent 4 days on this one. rip.

  1. Can the game not do semi transparent textures? I tried making the slime semi-transparent and it doesn't seem to work.

    1. You can't due to the way enemies are drawn to make palette swapping possible. It may be possible in the future though.

    3. They can be mistaken for x32 sprites, but are actually x48 in base resolution. That's probably why most people get this style "wrong" since they can't reach this exact level of expression in x32.
      Fooled even me for the longuest time...

      So..."x48+coloured outline"?
      There's not really names for it, but you can achieve similar looks by applying the same set of rules (size of head and eyes, base height, etc.)

      Understanding the "construction rules" is more important than anything else to imitate pixelart styles because you can achieve way different results in a same resolution.

    5. I explained them just above, rules such as his style's proportions and head shape, trends you can find in color palettes, eye size, base resolution, etc.

      There's a zoom-in function in the game, study the sprites.
      There's no shortcut to learning a particular artstyle. Observation and imitations (usually existing sprites spliced together) are the first steps before creating originals.

      Even if the imitation isn't perfect, maintaining consitancy within the key aspects shared by characters (for exemple human and catgirl have similar head and eye proportions) is enough for a mod to not look too out of place.

      Yeah, there's basically "nothing new" as the game goes, but that's the start of user-generated content, so we may see new unofficial creatures appear every now and then betwen official updates.

      It's smart, and if the modding community is active enough it may provide entertainment in-between H-updates.

    2. I have created a comment so people can reply to its chain by sending links. It may keep the comment section cleaner than if everyone just post them everywhere as they go.

      What kind of creatures (aside of wolf) are people nterested in? I'm in search of inspiration before taking on this challenge.

    4. It is, kinda, but would be dependant of a specific animation.
      Since the game select them randomly, it's kinda unreliable for now. Unless you cheat, aka take advantage of the fact there's no transparency for the "ghost aura" to cover the background sprite. Then draw whatever you want but there will not be variations.

    2. Simple futa h anims for lufu-chan
      I mostly recyled the original anims and made them move. There is an extra dom'd cycle named yd_2, it didn't look that good so I just left it there.
      Normal anims are just blobs coloured blue, so you wouldn't mix it up with the green blob. I am simply too lazy to make walking animations.

      - Slightly different haircut
      - Idle, hurt and attacking sprites (Attacking is out of sync and is supposed to be holding a weapon. When I make a nice weapon for it I'll update it)

      Next update I'll probably figure out a walking sprite. Or I might just use Lufu-chan's normal walking cycle idk.

  13. I tried to do a slapdash sin sack in 20 minutes. I eyeballed the slime as half the height of the orc but I was hilarious wrong. Maybe I'll fix this later and get all the actions in. https://i.imgur.com/5JESU6O.png

    How much of the game will be moddable? Will every sprite be overwriteable?

  16. Without a doubt, this update came out a bit empty of content, but this already opens the way for modifications. Although for now the possibility of modification is minimal.
    - In the future will it be possible to introduce your own objects? (like weapons or the amulet).
    - Can the watering can be filled with water?, That is if any update adds the water on the map.
    - Can the cat girl in the future have voices?, Like attacks, pain, dialogue, knocked out, moans, among others.
    - What happened to the clothes the last time it was seen was in update 21?, It was before the development of the cat girl.

    And I found some errors:
    - The night enemy once appeared and goes for the player you get into the house and you leave and he disappears, everything restarts again.
    - If you try to drag or dominate the knockout flower plant. the game crashes.
    - This is related to the character mods:
    * This happens when there is a second character mod, I made a copy of blob and I renamed it to slime, I also recolor it to light blue, everything works well except the knockdown.

  19. Couple bugs I've noticed with modded enemies so far.

    -Modded enemies do not attack existing enemies, or each other even if they hit each other by accident.
    -If a modded enemy hits a normal enemy, the normal enemy will aggro on the player as if they were attacked by them.

    1. The blob does this due to the way it's H animation is implemented.
      Other enemies have sections of their animations (such as inserting, thrust wind up, cumming.)

      This requires having one giant animation, with ranges defined in code. Like;

      cumming_thrust
      13-17

      However, the goal of this early modding method is to make it so the player doesn't have to do anything. So the game automatically uses frame 0 as "thrust_idle" and the rest as "thrust".

      Later on, the player will be able to manually define these by making a txt file for each H animation.

  24. while i do think this feature is pretty cool, i do think you should finish the basic game play loop before making modding support. this could cause issues in the future for both the game and the mods when you make future updates.

    1. I disagree, depending on the design intentions of the dev. That is, some of the most successfully modded games work by making the official game content itself function no differently than a loaded mod (Rimworld as an example).

      For all we know, the dev here is refactoring assets to be external resources, no different than mods.

    2. Mods are currently very basic. They should work without any changes from here one out. The way they work internally is also very simple, and isolated(a mod enemy is one object), so changing them is the same as modifying 1 enemy.

      Later, the user will be able to add details to a settings file, but the original simple method will always work.

  25. Are you planning on making mod enemies' stats (and drops) editable on a future update, or is that a thing we can do right now? It would be nice to have enemies that did as much (or more) damage as you, and ones that drop swords (from killing them), which can be equipped by you. The placeholder stats mean that the enemies do no damage, and take ~10 punches to kill

    5. easily solved by just not having mods or admins, or limiting their powers, if a mod bans someone for something like what you're complaining about, remove his powers, it's not really a hard thing to do.

  29. I noticed that this creates a file at "...\AppData\Local\lufu_37". I am not a big fan of storing H-game data on the boot drive (although most do that anyway). If you are adding save file functionality I would much rather it be stored in the same directory of the game rather than somewhere else on my drive.

    1. if the error is related to mod characters, thats because its spawning naturally. press space in your house to spawn the mod character in. but keep in mind that you can only have ONE mod character in the file for this to work or it will pick one out of the two.

    1. I don't wanna be rude or anything but, that doesnt fit in the game style at all, the colors are pretty ugly both alone and in combination with the others, the game has mostly vibrant and strong color palettes, don't use saturation that much.

      Eye description is useless for a pixel art game.

      Design some cool clothes that make him unique as a race, with those plain human clothes it just looks like your typical furry fanart.

      Specifying his submissive and passive-aggresive behavior in a game where those are not locked makes no sense (Since Kyrieru specified that relationship,as well as the role in sex can change depending on your playstyle)

      Also, do a full body image, a face picture doesnt help at all in a game where full body is needed, and also make it look more interesting, if we remove the rabbit ears from your character it just looks like a human, doesn't even look like a creature that would be on the wild.

      Also personal opinion here: A bunny monster would be 100 times better as a girl, since the fetish is way more common. A male rabbit monster sounds almost like a bad joke.
